Gaspari receives letter from Strasbourg

Member of the Armenian National Congress (HAK) Vardges Gaspari received a letter from the European Court of Human Rights. The court requested Vardges Gaspari to provide the printed copy of his application which was handwritten and illegible.

In the application Gaspari reports that he had been ill-treated and abused in Nubarashen penitentiary during his detention in 2008. In particular, Gaspari states that his cellmate Tigran Tadevosyan assaulted on him on March 11 and 12 demanding money.

Unable to find justice in Armenia Gaspari appealed to the European Court

Gaspari was detained in the wake of post-election clashes of March 1, 2008. he was charged under Article 316 of the RA Criminal Code (violence against a government representative).
