Aznavour joins Armenian delegates in Bern
On the evening of September 28, the delegation headed by Armenian Parliament Speaker Hovik Abrahamyan arrived in Bern where the group was joined by Armenia's Ambassador to Switzerland Charles Aznavour.
The delegation met the members of the Switzerland-Armenia Parliamentary Friendship Group. Mr. Abrahamyan noted that the friendly ties between the two countries deepen and reinforce thanks to the efforts of the Friendship Group.
"Both countries have similar spiritual and cultural values, similar landscapes, skills and convictions," underlined the Armenian parliament speaker.
Hovik Abrahamyan expressed gratitude to the Swiss National Council for adopting a resolution recognizing the Armenian Genocide on December 16, 2003 and stressed the efforts of the Switzerland-Armenia Parliamentary Friendship Group in this regard.
Mr. Abrahamyan emphasized the further deepening of inter-parliamentary cooperation in the context of Armenian-Swiss relations saying the Yerevan visit of the Friendship Group in 2008 proved productive and enhanced inter-parliamentary cooperation and economic ties.
On September 29, the Armenian parliament speaker will have meetings with the Chairperson of the Council of States of Switzerland Erika Foster-Vannini, President of the National Council Pascale Bruderer Wyss and Foreign Minister Micheline Calmy-Rey.
