The court hearing into the case of young oppositionists David Kiramijyan and Sargis Gevorgyan was adjourned today as Gevorgyan's new advocate Stepan Voskanyan had not had time to get acquainted with the case material.

Voskanyan was appointed Gevorgyan's advocate after the latter's discord with advocate Melanya Arustamyan.
David Kiramijyan and Sargis Gevorgyan were arrested by plain-clothed policemen on May 31 in a standoff between small groups of protesters and police in Yerevan's Freedom Square. Gevorgyan was charged with violence against a government representative and Kiramijyan with hooliganism.

After spending a month in custody, Kiramijyan was released on July 2 after giving a written undertaking not to leave the city.

Taking to A1+, Sargis Gevorgyan said the "judge was executing a political order and fulfilling the wishes of some officials."

The oppositionists say the authorities simply attempt to intimidate other opposition activists with the trumped-up charges and ridiculous trial.

The next court sitting is scheduled for July 30.
