Armenian deputy FM receives UN Special Rapporteur Margaret Sekaggya
On June 14, Armenia's Deputy Foreign Minister Arman Kirakosyan received the UN Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights defenders, Margaret Sekaggya.
Greeting the guest, Mr. Kirakosyan presented the steps the Armenian authorities take towards reinforcement of the institute of the human rights defender, emphasizing the importance of the independent activity of the Ombudsman's Office.
The interlocutors discussed the results of the report on the recent review of Armenia's human rights record. It was noted that the commitments assumed under the process would be implemented after the official confirmation of the report by the Universal Periodic Review of the Human Rights Council in September.
