“Right to self-determination is not subject for bargain”
Within a working visit to Russian city of Rostov-on-Don, Armenia's Presidents Serzh Sargsyan visited Armenian Church Surb Hambardzum, historical-ethnographical museum and paid tribute to the Armenian soldiers of Myasnikyan region killed in the Great Patriotic War.
President Sargsyan met with the governor of the Rostov region as well as leaders of the local Armenian community.
Speaking about the current political and economic situation, Serzh Sargsyan said, "The main reason for the suspension of the Armenia-Turkey Protocols was that Turkey was not ready for the process. To justify its failure in the process of accord Turkey continues bringing forward new preconditions. Furthermore, it tries to penetrate into a sphere, where it obviously has nothing to do. I mean the settlement of the Karabakh issue. Presently, we have nothing to talk about with an unreliable and untrustworthy partner, who constantly breaks agreements reached previously."
I am convinced that you remember my attainments and concerns uttered here, in Rostov-on-Don during my pan-Armneian tour. Time has shown that we did the maximum we could for the last closed border of Europe to open, while Turkey is not ready for it. Finishing his speech, President Sargsayan said, "We are building history, the pages of which will be written by all of us. Hence, we shall write it in the best possible way for our future generations to feel proud of us. Time benefits those who reasonably make use of it. Let's work jointly and time will become our ally."
