"No one threatens and no one fears"
"As a city mayor I see no differences in the City Council," Yerevan Mayor Gagik Beglaryan told journalists on November 30 and added that all complaints were resulted by changes in the quorum after the working order was made compliant with the Law on Yerevan.
"The Law on Yerevan envisages a change in the quorum according to which only ¼ of the Council of Elders will be involved in the decision-making. Earlier, decisions were made by half of them," explained the city mayor.
Asked how he takes Prosperous Armenia's threats to lay down the mandates, Gagik Beglaryan said: "I don't understand what you mean by saying "threats". No threats are allowed at work - no one threatens and no one fears. On the other hand, each of us must be responsible for his words and actions."
Asked whether the new mayor is going to correct the mistakes of the pervious one and forbid construction of entertainment centers in inadmissible places, Mr. Beglaryan said: "Under the Law on Yerevan, a new mayor is not accountable for the actions of his predecessor. There are not mistakes or errors to be rectified. We are trying to introduce reforms for the sake of Yerevan and its inhabitants. To err is human and each of us is fallible. If we find any mistakes we shall correct them to exclude their repetition in the future."
