Who bottles Bjni?
Many wonder who Bjni mineral water sold in Armenian markets belongs to and who it is bottled by.
The embattled Armenian mineral water plant owned by opposition-linked businessman Khachatur Sukiasian stood idle after October 20, 2008. The Company was announced bankrupt on April 6, 2009.
Ara Zohrabian, a lawyer for the Bjni mineral water plant, told A1+ that they have no connection to the Bjni put up for sale in markets.
After A1+ reminded Mr. Zohrabian that the place of production (village of Bjni) remains the same on the bottles, the lawyer said: "The village has several springs of mineral water."
Supposedly, Arsen Chikchian, the bankruptcy manager, continued bottling the mineral water until a Kotayk court took a decision on the company's final dissolution.
Remind that Bjni mineral water plant has filed a court action to the European Court of Human Rights against the Armenian government. The Company protests against a violation of the right to a fair trial and links the clamour around Bjni CJSC with Khachatur Sukiasian's political activity and support for former President Levon Ter-Petrosian's bid to return to power in 2008.
In case the ECtHR grants the Company's claim, the Armenian government will be forced to compensate 220 million Euros to Bjni.
