IRANIAN PRESIDENT TO TRAVEL TO ARMENIA SOON

Iranian president Seyed Mohammad Khatami is to visit to Armenia Wednesday at president Kocharyan’s invitation.

After tete-a-tete meeting between the two presidents, Armenian-Iranian talks will begin that are to be followed by a joint news-conference.

The Iranian president will commemorate the Armenian killed by Ottoman Turks between 1915 and 1920 by lying flowers at Yerevan’s genocide memorial.

He also is set to tour the Blue Mosque and meet with Iranians working in Armenia.

Diplomatic ties between the two states were established in 1992 after signing a declaration. This is the first visit of Iranian president to Armenia since then. Robert Kocharyan was in Iran for official visit in 2001.
