Tatev Abrahamyan takes 6th place in US chess tournament
Our compatriots, who took part in the US chess championships in 2018, completed the tournaments with nothing. In the tournament among men the Armenian grandmaster Varuzhan Hakobyan earned 4.5 points out of 11 possible and with the additional coefficients took the 10th place. The first place was unexpectedly won by Sem Shonklyan, who beat the challenger for the title of world champion Fabiano Caruano with half a point. In the championship among women, two chess players Annie Wang and Nazi Ptikidze earned 8 points each and shared 1-2 places. Today they will play for the title of champion in a tiebreak. Armenian chess player Tatev Abrahamyan, who took part in the championship, earned 5.5 points and took 6th place.
