Vahagn Khachatryan: Everyone said called themselves mine owners (video)
In 2016, Armenia extracted 26 million cubic meters of mineral concentrate from which 80,000 tons of metal was produced. Mining companies earned 239 billion AMD or $ 500 - 600 million. This is only visible, positive aspect of the mining industry. That sector causes 8-10% of damage per year on the economy, health, environmental and other spheres. Economist Vahagn Khachatryan said that the non-professional work was dealt with. "The things that were done in the 2000's, particularly by the Ministry of Nature Protection, ruined everything. Anyone, especially locals "rich people," became mine owners, when they neither possessed the technique of its exploitation, nor had any knowledge; everyone said called themselves mine owners."
