Political analyst: Azerbaijan understands that we will not agree to its preconditions (video)

Repeated ceasefire violations by Azerbaijan are not surprising for us. After refusing to negotiate over the Karabakh issue, Azerbaijan began to set preconditions to Armenia. Specifically, it demands that Armenia return “the occupied” seven regions and agrees to resume the talks after that. “Azerbaijan understands that we will not agree to its preconditions and continues to violate the ceasefire,” says political analyst Stepan Grigoryan. Azerbaijan is an unpredictable state and it can start a war at any moment. The reason is that Azerbaijan’s leadership ignores its citizens who are against the war. "Only sharp and targeted strikes can stop Azerbaijan from resuming the war. All well-known and clever people in Azerbaijan are either exiled or imprisoned. The voice of the public is not heard, that's why the government cannot be controlled,” the political analyst said. After yesterday’s shelling, the OSCE Minsk Group called upon the sides to cease military action. “Violence only begets further violence and accomplishes nothing. The only responsible and humane way to resolve this long-standing conflict is for the sides to return to the negotiation table in good faith,” the Co-Chairs said in a statement released today. Mr. Grigoryan says Armenia also supports the idea of resuming negotiations. "We should be ready [for war] at every moment, but I do not think that Azerbaijan will go to war. If Azerbaijan decides to start a war, it cannot anticipate the reaction of Russia and Trump.” The political analyst says in addition to making targeted statements, the international mediators should also condemn the steps of that state along the Line of Contact.
