Valery Osipyan says Safaryan was not subjected to violence in court
Valery Osipyan, a deputy chief of the Yerevan police, dismisses reports that inmates, including activist Gevorg Safaryan are subjected to violence in courts. He told Safaryan’s mother that he had personally talked to representatives of the rapid response group of the Human Rights Defender's Office who had visited Safaryan. During the meeting, Safaryan rejected reports of violence. Lawyer Tigran Hayrapetyan disagreed with Osipyan saying no prisoner would speak up about violence against him knowing that it could repeat later in a prison cell.
