Russia forgives Kyrgyzstan's debt of $240 million

Kyrgyzstan's Finance Ministers Adylbek Kasymaliev and Russia's Anton Siluanov signed a protocol under which Russia wrote off Kyrgyzstan's debt totaling $ 240 million. The document was signed in Moscow within the framework of the state visit of President of Kyrgyzstan Almazbek Atambayev to the Russian Federation, Sputnik reports. Minister of Finance of Kyrgyzstan Adylbek Kasymaliyev said that Kyrgyzstan owed $488.9 million to Russia since 2012 and in 2013, Russia wrote off $188.9 million, while allowing the remaining $300 million to be repaid by installments. In 2016-2017, Russia wrote off $60 million in two installments ($30 million each) and the remaining amount of the debt was $240 million.
