The NA lawmaker Tigran Urikhanyan didn’t show up at the court hearing into the case of Director of “Analitik” website Ani Hovhannisyan today as well. Already the 4th court hearing has been cancelled, as the aggrieved party, Tigran Urikhanyan, didn’t appear at the court hearing. “The activities of the working committee of the Council of Europe are underway in Armenia, and his presence is mandatory,” explained Karmen Poghosyan, representative of Tigran Urikhanyan. The absence of the aggrieved party caused the discontent of the defense side, “Last time the aggrieved party sent a note to the court, informing us that he would definitely attend today’s court hearing. I propose to make a decision to take him to the court, or change the precautionary measure of my defendant or do not recognize his evidence as a proof,” said Liparit Simonyan, advocate of Ani Hovhannisyan. Ani Hovhannisyan added, “During 9 months of preliminary investigation Tigran Urikhanyan didn’t show up for confrontation, now he doesn’t appear at court hearings, but he found time to make a sharp report. I agree with my advocate, I think that my rights are violated, I am in custody illegally. You should make a decision to take him to the court hearings or change my precautionary measure.” To remind, the police received a report by the RA NA lawmaker Tigran Urikhanyan according to which the director of the website periodically published on the website false information, defamation and other incriminating materials about his person, family members and his activities as a lawmaker. The director of the website reportedly demanded that the lawmaker pay her AMD 300,000 every month for stopping the publication of articles. Judge Arshak Vardanyan informed that if Tigran Urikhanyan doesn’t show up at the next court hearing as well, a decision on taking him to the court hearings will be made as well as the issue of changing the precautionary measure of Ani Hovhannisyan will be discussed. Court hearing will continue on June 22.
