Prosecutor demands conditional sentence for Ani Zakharyan (video)
During today’s court hearing in the Court of General Jurisdiction of Yerevan’s Kentron and Nork-Marash administrative districts, the prosecutor demanded a conditional prison sentence for Ani Zakharyan, Chair of the New Political Culture party. Ani Zakharyan is accused of instructing protesters to smash the window of a police car on Khorenatsi street in July 2016. “I ask the court to sentence Ani Zakharyan to three years in prison, at the same time applying Article 70, that is to impose a probationary period for a period of four years,” the indictment reads. Prosecutor Vahan Harutyunyan noted that the defendant's guilt has been proved. The hearing was adjourned until June 28.
