Nikol Pashinyan, one of the two candidates challenging incumbent Mayor Taron Margaryan in the upcoming elections, says if citizens vote for him, they will have an opportunity to earn AMD 15 000 each. During a discussion held at Media Centre NGO on Friday, political analyst Armen Grigoryan said, “If taking bribes is considered legitimate, why is the Yelk alliance combating vote-buying? In fact, he [Nikol Pashinyan] throws into the water the partial success recorded in the fight against voter fraud. Yelk has become the Republican Party of Armenia,” he said. Nikolay Baghdasaryan, a City Council candidate from the Yelk alliance, could not understand the accusations addressed the alliance. “This is not a bribe, this is a campaign pledge, a proposal cannot be taken for a bribe. I cannot understand how you can make a mock of a political force which is fighting against electoral fraud,” he said.
