Putins receives US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson
Russian President Vladmir Putin has met with US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson in Moscow amid escalating tensions between the US and Russia over Syria. The meeting is being held behind closed doors, and details of the talks are not disclosed. Before that, Rex Tillerson met with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov. The meeting lasted four hours. Days ago Vladimir Putin’s spokesman Dmity Peskov ruled out a meeting, suggesting Mr Tillerson would follow strict diplomatic protocol and only meet his direct counterpart, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.
