Ruben Balabanyan, a parliamentary candidate from the Progressive United Communist Party of Armenia, is going ‘to fill the legislative gaps’ after taking a seat in the next parliament. Talking to journalists on March 14, Mr Balabanyan, who worked as a judge in Soviet times, said, “Legal education is luxury today which is inaccessible for working-class Armenians but the good will of the Communist Party of Armenia towards the youth is undeniable. We see gaps in the legislation. For example, the court is expected to investigate the case ‘within a reasonable time.’ This concept is perceived differently by each court, which is wrong,” said the candidate. Irina Hovakimyan, another parliamentary candidate of the party, is going to promote military science and industry after the April 2 elections. She views the Republican Party of Armenia (HHK) and Prosperous Armenia Party (BHK) as their main contenders. When asked what the HHK pensioner candidates could do in the National Assembly, Irina Hovakimyan said, “Trump is also a pensioner.”
