“Rating of Democratic Party is only 2 % lower than that of Republican Party” (video)
The Democratic Party of Armenia will participate in 2017 parliamentary elections with coalition. The negotiations with other forces are underway. At the moment Chairman of the Party Aram Sargsyan prefers to remain silent about the future allies. “Together with the opposition forces, we will take part in the elections, with those forces, which will accept general fundamental principles, who will agree to change this political system.” In order to concentrate his efforts on the upcoming political campaign, Chairman of the Democratic Party has put down the mandate of the first Vice-President of World Armenian Congress. He considers his main objective to be the establishment of the 4th Republic as a result of the upcoming elections. “I do not want anyone to be frightened of it, it does not mean to destroy everything from bottom to top and then create something new. No, it should be step by step change of the system,” he explains. Aram Sargsyan believes in success. They have conducted their own polls among 2500 people. The rating of the Democratic Party is only 2 % lower than that of the Republican Party. “It is a professional poll and not amateur. We know ours to be 6% at present. If the Republican Party is interested, I can say that theirs is not higher than 8.5 %.” The Democratic Party, which has 25 years’ history, appeared in the parliament of independent Armenia in the form of coalition. It missed only 2007 NA elections. Aram Sargsyan considers their rivals in the upcoming elections to be HHK and Dashnaktsutyun. They will enter the parliament, but there will be electoral fraud. “They will try to make use of abilities of money. But our research shows that the people are not inclined to it,” notes Aram Sargsyan. For attracting the people, Aram Sargsyan will not use complex words. He will speak in simple, human language.
