On November 18, the Armenian Government adopted a bill on criminalization of illicit enrichment. Minister of Justice Arpine Hovhannisyan noted that the importance to adopt the bill is determined by the United Nations Convention against Corruption (UNCAC), Armenia’s anti-corruption policies, as well as the study of international experience in the criminalization of illicit enrichment. “The bill proposes to amend Chapter 29 of the Criminal Code (Crimes against State Service), fixing the offense of illicit enrichment. Considering a high degree of latency of corruption offences, we can say that the offense of illicit enrichment is one of the most important tools in the struggle against corruption,” the minister stressed.
