Hrant Melkumyan takes 8th place in Germany
Hrant Melkumyan, Armenian men’s chess team member, took the 8th place at Bavaria Open tournament in Germany. Our chess player began the tournament successfully and after six rounds he was among the leaders. Alas, at the 7th round, he lost to Indian GM Gopal and fell behind. In the 8th round he lost half point ending in a draw with Indian international master Das Debashis. Though in the last round our chess player confidently won German Roven Vogel, he gained 7 points and took the 8th place. Ukrainian Alexander Areshchenko became the winner of the tournament.
