Founding Parliament again promises to change power (video)
“There is a need for a change of power in Armenia because the acting authorities act against the state,” Alek Yenigomshyan, a member of the Founding Parliament movement, said on November 1. He says if we fail to solve the problem of our sovereignty, unite Artsakh with Armenia, create a vibrant, sustainable country, Armenia will continue to face serious challenges. Mr. Yenigomshyan thinks we can get out of the current situation by changing the authorities in the country. Only if we resolve these problems can we say that Armenia is a sovereign and stable country. The Founding Parliament and supporters of the Sasna Dzrer (Daredevils of Sassoon) have proposed a roadmap, which, they claim, can solve the aforesaid problems. “The program is under discussion now, and all citizens are welcome to make their proposals. You can forward your proposals to the Facebook page of the Sasna Dzrer group,” Mr. Yenigomshyan said. The FP member says they cannot set reasonable deadlines for the change of power. “It depends on the involvement of our compatriots from Armenia and foreign countries. During the transition period after the change of power we shall need the support of our compatriots living abroad,” he said. Mr. Yenigomshyan says the Sasna Dzrer movement was unable to change the authorities though many joined and supported the group. “Though the movement did not produce the desired effect, it does not mean that we cannot try that way again,” he said. He says people must choose the path of civic revolt to achieve their desired aims. Zhirayr Sefilyan has endorsed the program submitted by the Founding Parliament. “He has signed the document which also reflects his will.” Mr. Yenigomshyan says the change of a prime minister was not caused by the actions of the Sasna Dzrer group that seized a police station in Yerevan in July. “The acting government is using a new method of colonization. We shall be satisfied if these problems are resolved. The authorities should guarantee protection of human rights, independence of the judicial system, eradication of corruption, etc.” Alek Yenigomshyan says Armenia should reconsider its foreign policy. “We should discuss the possibility of quitting the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) and Eurasian Economic Union (EEU). Instead, we should draw closer to NATO and the European Union. After it we shall be able to restore our sovereignty and solve the problem of decolonization.”
