Armenian caviar reached Australia (video)
As soon as the civil war started in Syria, Syrian-Armenian businessman Shant Khenkikian was forced to move his Syria-based business to Armenia.
“Surely, we encountered numerous difficulties in relocating to a new country which has other laws. Naturally, we overcame all difficulties with patience and today we continue our business here, in Armenia,” says the 40-year-old man.
Khenkikian Electronics is specialized in design and manufacture of electronic control system. The company exports its products to Arab countries. It does not have consumers in Armenia. Khenkikian Electronics is trying to fill the gap, with its participation in the industrial exhibition “Expo-Russia Armenia 2016 plus Iran."
“Khayts Ishkhan” Ltd, which started caviar production in Armenia’s second largest city of Gyumri, wants to access new markets abroad.
“Those who could afford to buy caviar have left the country. Only poor people have stayed who eat bread and pasta that is why we want to succeed in entering new markets in foreign countries,” says Anahit Boyajyan, the manager of the company. She says the demand for their product grows during the New Year season while caviar is always in demand in other countries.
“The demand is great especially in Russia. We have received orders from many strange countries, including Australia, but the orders have not turned into action yet,” she said.
Industrial exhibition “Expo-Russia Armenia 2016 plus Iran” will run until October 28.
