Pashinyan’s idea begins to spread among pro-government forces - Tevan Poghosyan (video)
Member of the Republican Party of Armenia (HHK), Levon Martirosyan, does not see a need for new political forces ahead of the 2017 parliamentary elections. “We need a strong opposition in Armenia,” he said. Tevan Poghosyan, a member of the Heritage faction added, “I must say that Nikol Pashinyan’s idea begins to gradually spread among the pro-government forces.” Martirosyan says the most democratic countries have one united opposition. “They do not need so many human, financial and other resources. So the only way for them is to unite,” he said. There is an opinion both opposition and pro-government forces have discredited them. Perhaps, we need new forces… Levon Martirosyan says we have no time. “If they fail [to unit] , they will not be able to throw down the gauntlet at the governing force, moreover, they will not be able to achieve anything.” Tevan Poghosyan says the HHK needs one opposition force and the Republicans may form that opposition force themselves. The party definitely has finances for it, otherwise their will not interfere. “Why do Republicans care whether we have 6 or 7 oppositionists, whether the opposition is united or not? Let them mind their own business and not interfere.” Mr. Poghosyan reminds the HHK lawmaker that people do not like Republicans and they had better step down for the sake of people. “Have you ever heard a ruling party say it is stepping down?” Levon Martirosyan said in reply.
