On October 5, Armenia's Court of Appeals rejected a motion to release activist Andrias Ghukasyan. Talking to A1+, lawyer Karen Mejlumyan said they had been offered to pay one million dollars as a pledge but the court was not bound to determine the collateral sum. The prosecutor did not even say on what grounds the petition was rejected. “He only said the information was confidential and such cases are heard behind closed doors, but in fact, it was a violation of law,” Karen Mejlumyan said. The lawyer added that Andrias Ghukasyan, who is charged with organizing mass disorders, is imprisoned for his political views. The lawyer says they are going to dispute the decision in the Court of Cassation, and if the latter rejects them, they will go to the European Court of Human Rights.
