The four-day war in Karabakh in April has affected the country’s economy. Deputy Economy Minister of Artsakh Sergey Shahverdyan says the impact was especially felt in the tourism sector. The decline amounted to 40 percent in April and May. Later after the influence weakened the decline totaled 20 percent. The deputy minister hopes that things will return to normal by the end of the year. A total of 15 000 tourists have visited Artsakh in the past nine months if compared with the 16 000 in 2015.  “Several groups of tourists visited Artsakh immediately after the war. They came to see the consequences of the war in Karabakh,” Sergey Shahverdyan said. He added that the current trends in the tourism sector were also characteristic of other sectors of the economy.
