“Rise up, Armenia” initiates petition
A petition has been initiated in order to change detention as a measure of constraint of “Rise up, Armenia” civil movement’s member David Hovhannisyan. The family of Hovhannisyan has introduced to the RA Prosecutor General Artur Davtyan an application with attached signatures. At this moment, a number of intellectuals as well as social and political figures have joined the project: Yeghishe Petrosyan – musician, Tigran Hekekyan – Professor of music at Yerevan State Conservatory, director of Sayat-Nova School of Music, Ruben Hakhverdyan- singer, songwriter, poet, Ruben Babayan – director of Hovhannes Tumanyan Puppet Theatre of Yerevan, honored art worker, professor, Tamar Hovhannisyan – actress, director, screenwriter, Ara Papyan – historian, diplomat, former ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary of Armenia to Canada, director of Modus Vivendi Centre, Hayk A. Martirosyan – doctor of political science, PhD in History from Sorbonne, Anahit Bakhshyan – member of “Barev, Yerevan” fraction of Yerevan Council of Elders Styopa Safaryan - member of “Barev, Yerevan” fraction of Yerevan Council of Elders, founder and head of research programmes of the Armenian Institute of International and Security Affairs, Nikol Aghababyan – painter, freedom fighter, Tigran Khzmalyan – director, production designer screenwriter, Karen Andreasyan – former Human Rights Defender, assistant professor at YSU, candidate of Legal Sciences, Harutyun Karapetyan – chairman of NFSAT (National Foundation of Science and Advanced Technologies). Note, that the court hearing on extension of David Hovhannisyan’s term of detention will be held on September 23, at 16:30 in the Court of General Jurisdiction of Arabkir and Qanaqer-Zeytun administrative districts.
