Discussion of bill submitted by OEK representative postponed (video)
Though only four parliamentarians were present in the sitting of the National Assembly’s Standing Committee on territorial Management and Local Self-Government, the chairman of the Committee said the quorum is met and they could begin the meeting. The discussion of the bill on the local self-government bodies in Gyumri and Vanadzor cities was postponed at the request of the author - Hovhannes Margaryan, a lawmaker representing the Country of Law Party (OEK), who did not participate in the sitting either. Vache Terteryan, Deputy Minister of Territorial Administration and Emergency Situation, presented in brief the bills on amending a number of laws. Stepan Magaryan, Chairman of the NA Standing Committee on territorial Management and Local Self-Government, it is unusual to call Gyumri a community. “No one will do it as we are all used to calling it a city. We must simply accept that it is only a management system rather than the name of a settlement,” he said. Vache Terteryan agreed that it was only a legal wording.
