“Turkish army’s entry to Syria has both negative and positive consequences for Armenia,” thinks Director of Modus Vivendi Center, political expert Ara Papyan. “The negative consequence is that we had large Armenian community in Aleppo, but today it almost doesn’t exist, for as a result of the military operations many people have migrated. The positive consequence is that Turkey, getting involved in Syrian War, diverted its attention from the South Caucasus, and if you have noticed, during the recent months the situation is relatively peaceful on the front, as Azerbaijan cannot expect Turkey’s full support, that’s why it is more restrained,” he noted during the meeting with journalists, adding that such a situation will be maintained for one and a half month. Touching upon the territorial concessions, Ara Papyan noted, that the uprising of the Armenian society clearly showed that it isn’t acceptable, and our authorities got an opportunity to tell it to the outer powers. Nevertheless, according to the political expert, the dark clouds over Karabakh issue haven’t been neutralized, taking into account Russia’s aspirations in the South Caucasus and intentions to increase its influence on Azerbaijan. And the only lever of Russia against Azerbaijan is Karabakh issue. Developments in this issue, according to Ara Papyan, depend on the inner situation in our country, more concrete, on the situation of economy, “Unfortunately, month by month the situation of economy is getting worse and worse, the migration continues. As a result of migration every day we are losing so many people that may have been lost in Four-day War. It exhausts our country,” he summed up.
