New academic year kicked off at Yerevan No. 144 high school after Khachik Dashtents with a minute of silence. The attendees paid tribute to the memory of graduate of the school Adam Sahakyan, who was killed during the Four-day War. A classroom named after Adam Sahakyan was also opened at the school. According to the Minister of Education and Science Levon Mkrtchyan, opening a classroom after hero of April War first of all will give an opportunity to teach pupils to be patriots. All the pupils in the classroom were wearing shirts with the photo of Four-day War hero; Adams’ awards and medals awarded him posthumously are also here. The frontier troops consisting of 7 soldiers headed by Adam Sahakyan showed such a resistance that the Azerbaijani forces weren’t able to seize the position for 4-5 hours. As a result, Adam and his soldiers destroyed more than 200 Azerbaijani servicemen and prevented their advancement to the inner parts of the country. “I take him the way he was and I am proud of him, as not every person, being so young, can have such a character,” says Adam Sahakyan’s mother Gayane Antonyan. Adam’s mother now remembers that his son was active, liked going in for sport, liked music, but most of all he liked legends and legendary heroes. His mother says it isn’t accidental; now he is also a legend.
