Sasna Dzrer had an opportunity to seize police building - Suren Zolyan (video)
During today’s discussion at the Media Centre NGO, Suren Zolyan, a member of the Public Council, said members of the Sasna Dzrer group (Daredevils of Sasun) that seized a police compound in Yerevan and took several people hostage, had been allowed by the ruling wing to occupy the building. “The operation could not have been realized otherwise. The phones of the group members are being tapped, their steps are being videotaped. How did it happen that no one knew about their plans? I do not doubt the honesty of the group, but they were given an opportunity to carry out their plan,” Mr Zolyan said commenting on Serzh Sargsyan’s statement made earlier on Friday. If Serzh Sargsyan decided to address the armed group only to tell them that they will not be subjected to lynching and everything will be resolved within the frameworks of the law, he could have said it on the very first day of the attack.” Armen Martirosyan, Director of Antares publishing house, thinks the head of the National Security Service and Chief of the Police must resign after the attack. “Ig Serzh Sargsyan with his band does not learn lessons from the latest events, then we shall enter the phase of district authorities who will resolve matters in a non-political way. We all want to get rid of the criminal regime led by Serzh Sargsyan.” Tigran Hekekyan, Artistic Director of “Little Singers of Armenia” choir said the events taking place in Yerevan are the result of problems accumulated for 25 years. “This did not start yesterday or ten years ago. These emotions have calculated for 25 years not in a single person but in an entire nation which burst out through these guys and perhaps they are the most honest of all of us.” Hekekyan added that the step divided the people into two groups. The small part represents the supporters of authorities who lead a good life and are able to solve their problems, while the bigger part represents the poor layer of society. “People must take to the street and stand beside the demonstrators," he said.
