Gor Ghlechyan, Spokesman for Justice Ministry’s Penitentiary Department, considers it inappropriate to answer the question whether Jirayr Sefilyan, who is kept in custody on charges of illegal arms possession, will be taken to the Erebuni police department to talk to his armed associates who attacked and seized the police compound early on Sunday demanding Sefilyan’s release. Ghlechyan says Hunan Poghosyan, first deputy chief of the police, has already answered the question. The latter said yesterday that there is no need to take Sefilyan to a meeting with the gunman affiliated with his Founding Parliament movement. An armed group calling itself Sasna Dzrer (Daredevils of Sasoun) attacked a police station in Yerevan on Sunday morning, taking several policemen hostage. The group demands the release of its leader Jirayr Sefilyan and resignation of Serzh Sargsyan.
