“On paper and in reality”: Age balance diverted in Armenia (video)
Which are the pension reforms and what is their impact on the improvement of the living conditions of the pensioners? Among current solidarity between generations and mandatory funded system, which one can more effectively ensure safe and dignified old age? Answers to this and many other questions of this sector have been voiced during the program “On paper and in reality”, which hosted Smbat Saiyan, Deputy Head of the State Social Security Service and the NA lawmaker Lyudmila Sargsyan. According to the words of the lawmaker, the responsibility towards the parents is very high in our country, irrespective of the fact how the state intervenes the life of the elderly, “An Armenian child will always take care of their parents.” Smbat Saiyan notes that unlike many countries, where there is no pension system, our state is destined to have a pension system, “In our country the balance between the young and the elderly has been diverted, the number of the elderly prevails. Decrease in birth rate and increase in average life expectancy by about 10 years prove that the solidarity between generations system should be changed with Mandatory funded pension system. This is the objective reality.” Watch details in the video!
