Azerbaijan will again buy arms from Russia: Lavrov is in Azerbaijan (video)
The military-technical cooperation between Azerbaijan and Russia is deepening. After April War, Russia is going to sign a new agreement on the arms supplies with that country. This news has been officially confirmed by Russia’s Ambassador to Azerbaijan Vladimir Dorokhin. Ambassador also declared that President Putin will not come to Baku with nothing in his hands, “The visit will not be only formal, it will be a working visit.” He didn’t rule out the signing of new arms contract between the sides just during that visit. “Azerbaijan is an ally of Russia, though not so formal, but it is much closer than Armenia. Russia has made it clear for many times that Azerbaijan is much closer and it gives privilege to the interests with that country than with Armenia. In spite of the fact that Armenia is included in all the structures serving the interests of Russia- the EAEU, the CSTO, the CIS,” Daniel Ioannisyan, project coordinator at the Union of Informed Citizens NGO, told “A1+”. He says that Russia will not only restore the losses sustained by Azerbaijan, “It will try to find out which kind of military equipment Azerbaijan lacked for reaching military success and they will supply that very equipment.” To note, after April War Russia “doesn’t leave Azerbaijan alone” together with its losses, which Azerbaijan sustained after attacking Armenia. On the other hand, the possible term of Russia’s arms supply to Armenia cannot be seen; Russia didn’t do it during April War and isn’t doing it now. “Armenia must have shown to Russia long ago that if Azerbaijan is an ally of Russia, Armenia would look for other military-political allies,” adds Daniel Ioannisyan, highlighting that first of all Armenia needs a faithful ally. By the way, at the moment Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan Elmar Mammadyarov and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Sergey Lavrov are discussing the issue of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict resolution. As Armenpress informs, the Azerbaijani APA agency informs about it, saying that the meeting between the Foreign Ministers of two countries has already kicked off.
