Lawyer could not see jailed civil activist
Lawyer Tigran Hayrapetyan could not see the jailed civil activist Gevorg Safaryan today. In the morning the lawyer visited Nubarashen prison where he was told that Safaryan had been taken to court to participate in a court hearing. Tigran Hayrapetyan finds it strange because he was not aware of the court hearing. Gevorg Safaryan was detained during clashes between police and demonstrators at Liberty Square on New Year’s Eve. Safaryan and five more activists were injured during the clashes. Safaryan was detained and was immediately charged with using violence against a government representative. Today, the Court is studying the prosecutor’s decision to discontinue the case.
