Pope Francis to dine with nuns
The joint press conference of Federico Lombardi, Director of the Holy See Press Office, and Fr. Vahram Melikyan, Director of the Information Service Department of the Mother See, ended at Gyumri press center. “This visit is the best example of brotherhood, cooperation, which exists between our churches. The whole our nation and Armenian clerics impatiently waited for the visit of His Holiness. We all should pray for peaceful course of human life,” noted Vahram Melikyan. Then Federico Lombardi began his speech reminding that in the morning His Holiness was at the Armenian Genocide Memorial Complex, “That was a very sensitive moment. Pope didn’t make a speech there; they were moments to think, consider and pray. The style of Pope Francis is more appropriate for the silence and prayer, as much has already been said,” highlighted Federico Lombardi. He noted that in general mass is offered in church, but taking into account the large number of people, today such a big ceremony was held at Vardanants Square of Gyumri. Besides, Director of the Holy See Press Office noted, “In the texts of Pope, unlike yesterday, there were no changes.” Another surprise, Lombardi says, was that Pope invited Catholicos to tour by popemobile. Lombardi said, “I should agree that it is worthy time for Pope Francis, adding that messages of Pope are easily accessible to people, as well as his gestures. He may have language barriers in Armenia, but people understand him well.” As for the upcoming visits of Pope, Lombardi noted, “Pope will visit the monastery of Gyumri nuns and will dine with them.”
