Truth Held Hostage – a book by John Evans who served as U.S. Ambassador to Armenia until 2005, was presented in April, 2016. John Evans lost his job for using the word Genocide to describe the Turkish government’s policy of extermination of Armenians in 1915. This book is a chronicle of John Evans’ experiences prior to and following his public statement. “I hope the book will be read by Turkish citizens as well,” Mr Evans said during a morning program of Voice of America. Ambassador Evans confesses that he misses the time spent in Armenia. At the same time, he says that Armenian employees of the Embassy staff have the highest level of intelligence. He considers Armenian apricot the best fruit in the world. John Evans even spoke about his decision to grow a beard.
