The Government today approved the draft Civil Procedure Code, the issue of making amendments and changes to the Judicial Code and other draft laws. The Minister of Justice Arpine Hovhannisyan said that by these drafts essential changes will be made in the judicial system. In particular, it is planned to reduce the overload of the courts and corruption risks. The changes are conditioned by the fact that though the current Civil Procedure Code of the RA, which entered into force in 1999, was very advanced at the moment of its adoption, it also had drawbacks, a part of which existed at the moment of adoption of the code, and the rest arose during its implementation. “What’s more the changes in the RA Constitution made on December 6, 2015, also bring forward necessity to made relevant changes and amendments to the RA Civil Procedure Code,” noted Arpine Hovhannisyan. The Minister also added that from the point of view of legal technique the current Civil Procedure Code isn’t in line with the demands of law on “Legal acts”, as the latter was adopted later.
