Minister-Chief of Government Staff Davit Harutyunyan believes that definite steps are being taken in the fight against corruption in Armenia. “Bad things are immediately spotted by our people and it is good. But it would be wrong to say that nothing is done in this respect,” Mr Harutyunyan said on Friday. Speaking about Thursday statement of Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan who called for fight against corruption, Davit Harutyunyan said, “What the prime minister meant to say is the following: we also need to take such measures that will allow us to see tangible results.  We should continue to improve the general situation.” When reminded about the words of Peter Svitalski, Head of EU Delegation to Armenia, who said they would not give money to the Armenian Government unless they saw tangible results, Mr Harutyunyan said, “No one expects money from Mr Svitalski for the fight against corruption in Armenia. The money allocated by the European Union has nothing to do with the fight against corruption.  In general, the fight against corruption does not require any money.”
