The statements made by Serzh Sargsyan and Hovik Abrahamyan show that the fight against corruption is an important issue for Armenia, says Peter Svitalski, Head of EU Delegation to Armenia. “The latest events spoke to corruption in the defense sector: this is a matter of national security for Armenia. Corruption does not make your country stronger. Rather, it weakens you. If you view the issue from this perspective, you will have good results,” Peter Svitalski said. The Head of EU Delegation added that the European Union will allocate the Armenian Government 15 million euros as assistance in the fight against corruption. “But there are definite terms and conditions. Unless we see tangible results we shall not transfer the money to the Government of Armenia,” Mr Svitalski said in conclusion.
