How to break the stereotype (video)
“When an employer gets rid of the stereotype that a person with disability is ill, unable, we will not have any problems anymore,” says Anna Hakobyan, Head of the Department of Issues of People with Disabilities of the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs. Guests of “On paper and in reality” program discuss the issue of employment of the people with disabilities. Many citizens in Armenia, who have movement, visual, hearing impairment, have been left out of employment sector not only because the employer doesn’t want to employ them, says Zaruhi Batoyan, Head of “Disability Info” information NGO, but because the people don’t have relevant education, professional skills and experience. “It is very important that we not only see the problem in the employment sector, but also education, urban development and transportation sectors,” says Zaruhi Batoyan, “If trainings at schools and later post-graduate professional trainings in universities are complete, the employer will not have any problems.” Watch the video for more details!
