Many in Yerevan consider the liberation of Shushi on May 9, 1992 our greatest achievement. “This is our pride. Should we not capture Shushi, our young people would hardly have the spirit and courage they have today,” said one of our respondents. The liberation of Shushi was the first steps towards the formation of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic. This victory inspired the Armenian military forces. Azerbaijan was forced to halt hostilities and agree to a ceasefire. But the recent flare-up of violence on the Karabakh-Azerbaijani border showed that the fragile ceasefire can turn into war at any moment. “Our leadership should protect our people and help Artsakh restore its old positions. We do not want to see fighting every day,” said another citizen. Details in the video
