People in Georgia understand that the Karabakh conflict threatens security in the Caucasus region, they understand the importance of peace in Nagorno-Karabakh, Georgia’s Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili said in Strasbourg during a joint press conference with Thorbjørn Jagland, Secretary General of the Council of Europe. The Georgian official stressed that immediately after the escalation of tensions on the Karabakh-Azerbaijani border he made a statement calling on the sides to resolve the conflict in a peaceful way. Mr Kvirikashvili added that he could offer the conflicting sides to continue talks in his country. Thorbjørn Jagland, in turn, highlighted the resumption of Karabakh peace process especially after the recent hostilities in the conflict zone. He added that since the parties have not turned to them seeking assitance in the resolution of the conflict, their position remains unchanged - talks will continue within the framework of OSCE Minsk group.
