Film about Genocide without brutal scenes of beheading and rape. Film “Call of the soul” (‘Kanch’) presented by “Avagyan” production is especially for adolescents. It doesn’t tell about the atrocities committed by Turks 100 years ago, but shows en example of an Armenian boy, who was able to maintain his identity even under the Turkish rule. The film tells about an Armenian adolescent Vartan. During the whole film he doesn’t surrender, he struggles for his life, beliefs and freedom. “He doesn’t lose his identity, he always recalls his grandfather, his family, he even doesn’t take part in namaz, he prays instead; we have created a conservative character,” says producer of the film Hayk Avagyan. Honored actor Ruben Karapetyan, who played the role of Vartan’s grandfather, has performed in such a film for the first time, but he assures that the character has matured in him long ago. He describes his character as a real Armenian grandfather, who conveys not material but spiritual heritage to his generation. “The grandfather conveys the alphabet, says that it is our soul, they are those 36 soldiers, who must preserve our nation and that is fulfilled by his grandson.” “Call of the soul” will be screened on April 20.
