V. Putin: “Russia is interested in resolution of the Nagorno Karabakh issue” (video)
During the annual direct line with Russian President Vladimir Putin, a question was posed relating to the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. “It is a delicate issue, and we must deal with that issue very delicately,” started Putin, recalling that the conflict had long history and was frozen, “Alas, there was an outburst of violence. We will do our best to regulate it, find an acceptable resolution for both sides. Here a lasting resolution is needed, finding a compromise through political means for both sides. A few years ago we were close to the settlement, but the issue wasn’t solved. We will continue to regulate the issue through international organizations and bilateral negotiations.” Putin highlights that Russia is interested in the resolution of the issue irrespective of what is said, “Russia intends to fully work with Azerbaijan and Armenia. Millions of Azerbaijanis and Armenians live in Russia. Thank God, there is no such a problem here, what’s more, I know many Armenians and Azerbaijanis, who, irrespective of the conflict, have good interpersonal relations, and Russia has its investment in that issue. The final resolution of the issue, though, depends on the peoples of Armenia and Azerbaijan.”
