Remembering the Maragha Massacres: 24 years passed since atrocities committed by Azeri armed forces (video)

April 10, 2016, marks the the 24th anniversary of the massacre of Armenians in the village of Maragha by Azerbaijan. On this day in 1992, Azerbaijani troops began bombarding the village of Maragha in Nagorno-Karabakh. The village was leveled to the ground after a three-hour violent shelling. After the bombardment, the subdivisions of Azerbaijani army invaded the village, killing local people, including women, children, and elderly. Their bodies were desecrated, dismembered and burned. After killing the villagers the Azeris robbed and burnt the village. Scores of people were taken hostages and were later exchanged, but the fate of many of them remained unknown. As of May 1, 1992, the number of Armenian hostages stood at 57, including 9 children and 29 women. A total of 59 people were killed during the attack. The next day, Armenians took back the village and found the bodies of 43 civilians there, charred human remains, beheaded or tortured, cut or sawed parts of bodies. The destiny of 19 people is still unknown.
