The necessity to deploy peacekeepers in the Karabakh conflict zone was first raised during a summit in Budapest summit organized within the framework of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) and remained actual ever since, Head of the Armenian National Congress (HAK) faction Levon Zurabyan said on Friday. Speaking about Serzh Sargsyan’s statements that Armenians were fighting on the border with weapons made in the 80s, Mr Zurabyan said, “He did not mean to say that we do not have modern weapons. We have, but we do not use them. The question is why we do not use them…” “We have never been against the deployment of peacekeeping forces. In that time, [Armenian first President] Levon Ter-Petrosyan wanted Turkey to be involved in the talks as Turkey blockaded Armenia, making itself a conflicting party,” the HAK lawmaker said.
