“Minsk Group must say who is responsible” (video)
“It is clear that the events during the recent three days are unprecedented according to their intensity and inclusion. Azerbaijan started attacks using such weapons, which haven’t been used since the cease-fire in 1994. It means that it is the maintenance of the tense situation, which have been proceeding during the past one and a half years, simply at the higher level,” today noted political expert Aleksander Markarov adding, that the problems both in the external and the internal politics served as bases for Azerbaijan. According to the words of the political expert, Azerbaijan must not only be held liable for all this, but also must present its own explanation expected by the international community. Besides applying resolutions against Azerbaijan, the political expert says, the international community must also take concrete steps. To note, today the meeting of the OSCE Minsk Group Co-chairs is expected in Vienna. In this context Mr Markarov highlighted that besides calling on the sides to stop the fire, the Co-chairs must make targeted statements on who is responsible for all this. “In this way Azerbaijan shows that the Minsk Group isn’t the instance, with which they are ready to settle peace,” he said. While touching upon the fact that Azerbaijan hires mercenaries from “Islamic State”, the political expert noted that it isn’t a new fact. By touching upon the stance of Russia, Aleksander Markarov noted: “From the one side Russia is our strategic ally, from another side it is a Minsk Group Co-chair country. In addition, Russia observes Azerbaijan as a major player in the territory taking into consideration the capacities of its energy carriers, but on the other side it has contractual commitments with Armenia.”
