Women lie on pavements: Armenian Women’s Front adopts new method of struggle (video)
Armenian Women’s Front initiative is staging different actions these days demanding release of people who remain in Armenian prisons for their political views. “Fight against injustice may take many forms, all of which are legitimate and acceptable,” says Nara Badalyan, a member of the initiative. The group reminds that Armenian women have always been by men's side. The difference is that at present they are not fighting against an external enemy but for their rights. “Women are active everywhere. For centuries, our queens and princesses fought on the front lines together with men,” Nara Badalyan added. An incident occurred during a March 24 protest held by Armenian Women’s Front after police officers tried to forcibly move the citizens from the street. Ruzanna Yeghnukyan, one of the group members, was injured during the incident. The group has already collected 300 signatures in support of Ruzanna Yeghnukyan and against the police actions. The collection of signatures will continue until April 7.
