Several young people spent the night on Northern Avenue
Five members of "Yerevan is next to Gyumri" initiative spent the night on Northern Avenue in Yerevan.
A benefit concert and fundraising event in support of homeless families in Gyumri was due to be held on Northern Avenue on March 20, but it was rescheduled for March 21 because of unfavourable weather conditions in the country.
The group stayed on the avenue through the night to guard the techniques and apparatus which will be used during the concept.
Maxim Sargsyan, one of the members of the initiative, told A1+ that they expect to raise more funds today than they did during the previous fundraiser. “We hope we shall be able to but at least one apartment with the money.”
The fundraiser starts at 1:00 pm, and the concert starts at 5:00 pm.
Earlier this year, photographer Hayk Barseghyan from Gyumri came up with the initiative to buy homes for 13 homeless families living in extreme poverty in Gyumri through foreign and local benefactors, as well as with the help of some individuals. Prominent singer Charles Aznavour, rock musician Serj Tankian and many others have already joined the initiative.
